Community Partnerships
From Bywood’s inception, leveraging the shared mission of other organizations has been a core value. Discouraging duplication of services and inviting organizations and groups to join Bywood in making a difference is a significant element of the neighborhood action plan. The KEEP BYWOOD BEAUTIFUL partnership of churches, government, health system, schools, colleges, and associations is essential to the success of the community garden and its connecting initiatives. Each potential partner chooses their commitment of resources, such as, volunteer hours, donation of material, craftsmanship, leadership, and project management.

Community Garden Project
Using space provided by the Prayer Chapel congregation, and the support of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Penn State Master Gardeners, Swarthmore College, Delaware County Community College, a landscape company, and funding from the Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development, a design-build schematic will provide a plan for a grid-style, elevated planter space for flowers and vegetables.
This potential gathering place for residents of Bywood will also serve as a potential launching for ancillary projects, such as organizing monthly clean sweeps, neighborhood watch, defensible space, and beautification projects from plants grown in the community garden.

Bywood Community Cleanups
BCA is hosting Bywood Cleanups on the second Saturday of each month, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm, at 220 Richfield Rd, 19082, from March 14 to October 10. Neighbors will disperse in teams to pick up trash, give out trash cans, and replace street signs in the Bywood neighborhood. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for updates on our next community cleanup, as cleanups are cancelled in inclement weather. BCA has a few grabbers, trash bags, gloves, and shovels. Bring items for yourselves, if possible, in case there aren’t enough for everyone. We are here to support neighbors in Bywood in initiatives that improve the neighborhood.
